Nicola PowellMackay, Queensland, Australia

Job Description

The Daily Mercury has a rare opening for a News Photographer position at its Mackay newsroom in North Queensland.

We’re for news, sport, lifestyle and industry.

Simply, we enjoy telling good stories and with the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac regions as your playground, there are plenty of great stories to tell.

You will have a strong news sense, and the ability to take a cracking photo.

Working across print and digital, the ability to shoot and edit video is a must.

Our journalists have the drive to make a difference, and a hunger to break good stories first, and we want a photographer who will match that, and who wants to be the best.

You’ll work with the reporters on their stories, but will also be expected to deliver photo essays of your own making.

You’ll need good time management, and be a self-starter.

An attractive salary is available.

Mackay is a thriving city centre, at the gateway to the Whitsunday islands and a service centre to the Bowen Basin.

This full-time role is based in our office on Gordon St, Mackay. We offer a fun, fast-paced working environment, excellent opportunities for growth and development and the opportunity to work within News Corp’s leading regional daily newspaper organisation.
